Background
In KlimAgenda it is the player's responsibility to protect the earth from climate-related disasters and to make both economically and ecologically sound decisions when building on the planet. In addition to the entertainment factor, the game is also intended to have an educational purpose and, in the sense of a 'serious game', present a serious topic in a playful way to raise awareness of the problem of climate change among people of all ages.
Gameplay
Each round has a fixed order, where players roll the dice and build. There are different types of buildings: power plants, industry, housing and air purification. Each of these buildings cost the game's currency 'Moneten (M)' and most of them produce emissions. Some buildings generate income like electricity and Moneten, some reduce the planet's emission level. A double also draws a hazard card, which affects the planet depending on the level of global warming.
End of the game
The goal of the game is to fulfill four predefined victory conditions:
-
Good climate:
Reach and maintain the green zone on the climate thermometer -
Research funds:
Pay 250 M to the bank to fund climate-friendly projects -
Smart power generation:
Have 8 power units in stock -
Successful business:
Build 4 industrial zones
