The Münzenberg
in Quedlinburg

Concept and demoversion for a point & click adventure

The point & click adventure game is about several historical events of the inhabited mountain plateau called Münzenberg in the city of Quedlinburg, which took place around the period from the 11th to the 18th century. The game concept includes four chapters, one of which was developed as a playable demo.

My tasks

research, narrative design, game design

Historical facts

The chapters pick up specific events from the history around the mountain plateau and lead through a fictional storyline that aims to bring the player closer to history. For the historical facts, the museum on Münzenberg was included and the storytelling department also was in a close cooperation with a local historian.

Gameplay

The demo version is about the main conflict regarding the social differences between the inhabitants of the Münzenberg, often beggar musicians and travelling people, and the citizens of Quedlinburg at the end of the 17th century. The conflict is represented by a fictional story about the theft of a relic medallion. The main character is the "Stiftshauptmann", who investigates on the Münzenberg and interacts with various inhabitants of the settlement on the mountain plateau.

Team

My responsibilities included narrative design, which mainly involved researching the historical context and designing the storyline. Together with a part of the coding team we also took care of the game design.

Feel free to take a look at another chapter (german) I designed for the storyline.
